Oral history interview with Jack Hill, 2006 December 8

Interview with Jack Hill, former resident of McKinney, Tex.: Hill grew up in McKinney in a family of very modest means; he dropped out of school to work at the Texas Textile Mill but his training was halted with the adoption of Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938. Hill found employment at a local grocery store, where he also continued to work after World War II, when he finished his service in the Air Force. In his account, Hill returns again and again to the tornado of 1948 and its effect on the town. He talks about his adult life as a family man and a grocery store owner, and about his customers from the mill village.
